Tips for Tuesday - Books: Husbands & Lovers & Two Sides to Every Murder; & Film: Lost in Tomorrow

Books: Husbands & Lovers 

Today we are recommending Husbands & Lovers by Beatriz Williams.  Three years after her son ingested a toxic mushroom at summer camp, single mother, Mallory is desperate for a kidney donor so her son can have a chance to live a normal life. At the same time, she is dealing with two secrets. One is her own shocking secret that ended her romance with Sam's father, Monk Adams, who is now a famous singer.  The other is the secret of her heritage as she just learned that her mother was adopted from an Irish orphanage.  The story alternates between Mallory's story in the present, Mallory's story in the past, and the story of her grandmother, Hannah, who was torn between two men and driven to give up her child.

This is an exciting book full of juicy secrets, devastating betrayals, and more. It is heartbreaking at times and hopeful at others. Plus, it is very unique and unpredictable in many ways.

Today we are talking about Two Side to Every Murder by Danielle Valentine. Olivia was born during the infamous murders at Camp Lost Lake. 17 years later, she returns there hoping to find answers when she learns the man she thought was her father isn't. Reagan's mom is alleged to have carried out the murders. She and her friend, Jack head to Camp Lost Lake as well hoping to find evidence to exonerate her mother. 

This book is intriguing and moves along at a good pace. However, there is nothing about it that feels especially unique. It feels like mostly a mixture of things that you've read or seen in other stories of this type.

Today we are talking about Lost in Tomorrow. This is an exciting and original thriller about a little girl who wakes up every day as a completely different person after she wishes to be someone else. However, the ending, or lack thereof is disappointing.
