Watson: The Final Problem is a one-man show starring and co-written by Tim Marriot in which Sherlock Holmes's faithful companion, John Watson, sets the record straight regarding Holmes's final case in which he literally battled his mortal enemy Moriarity to their mutual deaths. There is nothing new here, Any fan of Sherlock Holmes, knows how it all turns including Doyle's subsequent resurrection of his famous detective despite his alleged death in the story, The Final Problem. Even so, the show still packs a tremendous impact.

Seeing the story retold by one of the characters is much different than merely reading about it. Marriot as Watson recounts his tale most diligently and painfully. In every word and gesture,  you can see the intense love, loss, and guilt he feels regarding the deaths of his revered partner as well as that of his beloved wife, Mary.  He doesn't so much tell the tale as relive it with the help of a few light and sound effects that may trigger those who are especially sensitive to those things.

Holmes's own presence looms largely over the presidings with his empty hat and coat prominently placed on the stage the entire time. This only serves to deepen the show's impact. If you are a fan of Sherlock Holmes, you definitely won't want to miss this one, but even if you're not that doesn't mean you can't enjoy this well-told tale.
