The Women's Work exhibit at the New York  Historical Society covers all types of work that women do not just the work they do for pay. It also covers things such as the gender gap and how aside from gender other things like race, ethnicity, and social class have also affected the work women were able to or expected to do at a particular time or a particular place. The exhibit includes numerous objects and artifacts not arranged linearly, but in a way that encourages visitors to see connections between things and people over time. For instance, side-by-side pictures of Sojourner Truth and Marsha P. Johnson remind us that both were fighting for their rights for different reasons, using different methods during different periods. Ultimately, the exhibit shows that while woman's work can be anything what they are actually able to do is very much a result of the politics of their time.
