Today we are recommending Jesus Christ Superstar Behind the Scenes of the Worldwide Musical Phenomenon by Elliot Nassour. This is an extremely comprehensive book about everything to do with Jesus Christ Superstar from the original concept album to the stage production through the movie and beyond. Perhaps, it is even too comprehensive. Do we really need to know how Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's parents met their spouses, for example?

As MCA Director of Artists Relations, Nassour was a part of the show from the beginning and thus, he can give a true insider's account. Therefore, the book is not just a cut-and-dried historical account, but it is full of juicy tidbits as well including how Lloyd Webber actually felt about the original Broadway show and the movie (he didn't like either) and what various cast and crew members were like and how they interacted with each other. If you really want to immerse yourself in everything to do with Jesus Christ Superstar and learn everything you can about its history, there is no better way than by reading this completely engrossing book.

Today we are recommending Sports Role Models: Book 3. This third book in a trilogy of books about athletes who are positive role models is equally as touching and inspiring as the first two. Shaqueem Griffith, a football player with only one hand, is noted for his desire. Katelyn Ohashi, a gymnast who gave up elite gymnastics because it was no longer fun but excelled at the sport in college is noted for her good judgment. Wayne Gretzky, the greatest hockey player that ever lived is noted for his character. These are only a small portion of the tremendous athletes whose inspiring stories are covered in this book.

Not all of the athletes included here even reached the pinnacle of their sport, however. Swimmer, Sharvash Karapetyan's athletic career was cut short by injuries sustained while striving to save a busload of passengers submerged in a lake. Tyler Trent wasn't even an athlete at all just a Purdue student and Boilermaker's fan with a terminal illness and an extreme dedication. For more about their stories and others, you are definitely going to want to read this book. Although, like the other books in the series, it is meant to instill character, leadership, and sportsmanship in young athletes, it can be enjoyed by and provide hope and encouragement to anyone even those who don't even care about sports.

Today we are talking about Consider the Lillies. This film is about a woman who at approximately the same time discovers her husband is cheating, her estranged mother has been in a serious car accident, and her daughter is taking drugs and allegedly acting promiscuously. This seems like a juicy plot for a movie. However, it is not. Not all that much happens in the film.

Some plot points are resolved too quickly. Others not at all. The ending seems meant to tie things up neatly, but it just leaves a lot of unanswered questions.  Thus, this is not a very satisfying film.

Consider the Lillies is available digitally for purchase or rental now.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
