               Lincoln Center
              New York, NY

Willa Kim was a costume designer. She worked in both the theater and the dance world as well as on films, operas, TV shows, and even a little bit in the world of figure skating where her work included designing costumes for skaters, Janet Lynn and Yuka Sato. She was known for her use of a wide variety of colors and textures. Currently, a portion of her collection is on display at the New York Library of Performing Arts Vincent Astor Gallery of the Shelby Cullom Davis Museum.

The display includes numerous sketches as well as costumes, pictures, and more. Broadway shows represented in the exhibit include The Will Rogers Follies, Victor/Victoria, and more. Other works represented include the ballets, Peter and the Wolf and Papillion. You can also find a list of some of Kim's major credits. Unfortunately, the list does not include her Broadway shows, however. A highlight of the exhibit is the wall of colorful swatches of material with some of her sketches mixed in as well.

And that's our view. For more about the exhibit, visit www.nypl.org/events/exhibitions/wondrous-willa-kim-costume-designs-actors-and-dancers.

Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.
