Tips for Tuesday - Books: Unexpecting & Learn A Lot While You Sit On the Pot & Movies: Bibi

We may have been given complimentary copies and/or access for review purposes to any books, products, and/or any other visual or audio media mentioned below. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books: Unexpecting & Learn a Lot While You Sit on the Pot

Today we are recommending Unexpecting by Jen Bailey. Due to a social experiment gone wrong with one of his best friends, gay teenager, Benjamin Morrison, finds out that he is going to be a father. Maxie the expectant mother and her family want to put the baby up for adoption but Benjamin doesn't want to give his child away. However, even before the baby is born his life is completely changed and not necessarily for the better.

This book should be required reading for teenagers or anyone that doesn't really understand what it is like to have and raise a child. Benjamin goes through an important journey of growth throughout the course of the story that is portrayed quite believably. Maxie's journey as an expectant mother, although  not as detailed as the story is mainly about Benjamin,  is also portrayed quite believably.

There is a little bit of romance in the book, but not really that much so if you are looking for that, you may be disappointed. On the whole, it is mostly a book about family and what makes up a family and accordingly, there is lots of found family in the story so if you like that you will probably enjoy it. Although you can see where the story is heading fairly early on in the book, the ending still packs an emotional punch.

Today we are also recommending Learn A Lot While You Sit on the Pot. If you like to read while you use the bathroom facilities, this book is a good choice. It is full of interesting information and trivia some related to the bathroom, some not. It is broken up into short easy-to-read sections, but it is also only about 85 quick pages so you easily either read a little bit at a time or read it all in one sitting depending on your preference and how much time you have (or need) to spend in the bathroom.

Movies: Bibi

Today we are talking about Bibi This is  a film about a woman suffering in the aftermath of the death of a child. If you enjoy an eerie psychological thriller, you may enjoy it although it does move along somewhat slowly. The ending is a shocker.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
