Tips for Tuesday - Books: The Rachel Incident & Movie: The Furry Fortune

We may have been given complimentary copies and/or access for review purposes to any products, and/or visual or audio media mentioned below. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books: The Rachel Incident

Today we are talking about The Rachel Incident by Caroline O'Donoghue. Rachel meets James and they become instant best friends and roommates. When Rachel falls in love with her married college professor and he falls for James instead, they begin a secret relationship that changes not only the course of their own lives and the live of the professor's wife, but Rachel's as well.

This a novel about friendship and how far one is willing to go for a friend. In Rachel's case, that may be too far. While her devotion and loyalty to her friend are admirable, maybe it is taking things too far when it starts to have an extremely negative affect on her life.

This is a book full of complex characters with complicatedly intertwined lives. They do not always make the right choice, and they are not always likable. The story is refreshingly original and unique, however, which keeps it interesting.

Movie: The Furry Fortune

Today we are talking about The Furry Fortune. This movie is the bizarre story of a family whose dog begins shedding money. It is based on a book of the same name by D. Goode Morgan. While there are some good lessons here about how money isn't everything and a really cute dog to look at, this is not really a film that will appeal to the whole family. It is mostly for the 9 -12 set for whom the book is meant.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
