The Book of Awesome Black Americans by Monique L. Johnson is the perfect book to read for Black History Month. This book gives you an overview of numerous African Americans and their contributions to society. Although there are many people covered in the book that you are probably quite familiar with like Jackie Robinson, Lena Horne, and Muhammad Ali, there are probably at least as many if not more that you may not be familiar with like Naomi Ruth Sims,  the first Black supermodel; Felicia M. Davis, the director of UNCF's Building Green Initiative; and Otis Boykin, the creator of the pacemaker. This book includes individuals renowned in a wide variety of different fields including scientists, activists, and entrepreneurs as well as acting and sports.
