Plaza Suite is a three-act comedy written by one of the most celebrated playwrights of all time, Neil Simon. Each act of the play revolves around a different couple in the same suite at the Plaza Hotel. In this version of the play, the central conceit is that the male and female roles in each of the three couples are being played by Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker, who are not only married to each other but who have not appeared on stage together in over twenty years. This play has not been seen on Broadway since its initial run in 1968.

In some ways, this show is very dated in a pre-Me-Too Movement cringy kind of way. That being said, however, it is also very funny and there is a lot that is still laughable even for today's audiences. In a lot of ways, it is definitely, an example of a master comedy writer at his finest. The performances given by the two stars only add to the enjoyability of the show. Broderick is good, but Parker is terrific. She really shows off her comedic talents to fine effect in this show and her characterizations are hilarious.

All in all, I am fairly certain that this show is far from the worst example of pre-Me-Too movement comedy. In fact, as noted above, there is still a lot to like about this particular production, and it is mostly the second act of the three that is particularly troublesome. Accordingly, if you take it for what it's worth and remember that it is a product of a different less enlightened time, you can still have a fairly pleasant evening of theater seeing this show.
