Books: The Light at the End of the Tunnel and The Flipside of History

Today we are recommending The Light at the End of the Tunnel. This book is another sweet romance from Linda Weaver Clarke. Although it is not part of her Willow Valley Historical Romance series, it takes place in the same universe and beloved characters from some of those books appear in this book as well. The story revolves around Hannah and Thomas. After a string of bad luck, single mother, Hannah, arrives in Willow Valley and just wants to make a go of her new hot chocolate business to support herself and her young daughter, Sarah. Fellow shop owner, Thomas befriends her and quickly falls in love with her, but she is not ready for love and just wants to be friends. By the time she realizes her true feelings for him, it might be too late.  If you like your books quick, charming, and overflowing with romance, you will enjoy this latest offering from Linda Weaver Clarke.

Today we are recommending The Flipside of History by Steven Silverman. In this book, the host of the Useless Information Podcast shares a wide-ranging plethora of strange but true historical headlines, information, and stories. Enjoy reading about a swindler who claimed to be in touch with a prince from Venus, when donkeys were a fad and everybody wanted to own one, a man who was saved by the Underground Railroad four times and so much more. If you love the fun and fascinating kind of history that you don't find in textbooks, you will enjoy this book.

Movies: India Sweets and Spices

Today we are recommending India Sweets and Spices. Alia grew up in a strict Indian enclave where everyone was like family but that didn't stop them from constantly trying to outdo each other and gossiping behind each other backs. It was a world where her father ruled the roost and her mother was subservient to him. Then, she comes home from college and discovers secrets about her parents that change everything. This is a delightful and timely coming-of-age story with a feisty feminist heroine who discovers that she and her mother have a lot more in common than she ever thought.

India Sweets and Spices will be available in theaters this Friday, November 19, 2021

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
