What: Bklyn the Musical

Where: Available for streaming at https://www.stream.theatre/season/51

Who: Tweens and Up

When: Through April 4, 2021

Bklyn the Musical is a short-lived musical from the 2004 Broadway season. The show revolves around a young singer named Brooklyn.  Born in Paris, she comes to New York to seek out and be reunited with the American father she never knew and help him complete his unfinished song. The story can be less than satisfying at times especially if you are looking for a particularly happy musical with a definitive ending. This show is a much grittier and the ending leaves at least as many questions as it answers. The score does include some pretty songs though.

The current London streaming production of the show is a gem. It is well-acted and beautifully sung. It is staged in a space that looks like somebody's attic, but that gives it a more closed-in and cozy feeling make it feel more like you are a part of the show. Thus, making it more enjoyable. We are not sure what the original production of the show was like since we, unfortunately, did not have the opportunity to see it, but perhaps it was too overblown when it really works better as a small intimate musical.

Bklyn the Musical is available for streaming On Demand at stream.theatre through April 4, 2021. The cost of the stream is approximately $25 US.
