Our view: Anything that you could ever possibly want to know about anything to do with the sea in New Jersey and more, you can find out about and/or see at the New Jersey Maritime Museum. This intriguing museum is overflowing with artifacts and information galore. You can learn about the 1916 Shark attacks, which were the inspiration for the movie Jaws or the lost community of Tucker's Island, New Jersey's own Atlantis or the Morrow Castle, a ship which burned at sea and so much more. We will be devoting a whole future Where-To-Go Wednesday to the latter. You can see numerous uniforms as well as portholes, life preservers and other ship related products and so much more. The museum also has an extensive collection of material related to every New Jersey shipwreck including thick binders where you can read more about them if you are really interested in the topic. They also have DVDs playing throughout the museum providing more information on various topics including some of the topics mentioned previously as well as the sinking of the Andrea Doria, Atlantic City, Hurricane Sandy, Maritime Pets and more. You can even take home free copies of any of the DVDs to watch at home. If you are really interested in a topic you may want to do that because there are so many fascinating objects to see and so much interesting information to learn at the museum that you may not be able to take it all in one visit.

The New Jersey Maritime Museum is currently open from Friday through Sunday 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. No entry fee is required. Mask wearing and social distancing are required. For more information, visit njmaritimemuseum.org.
