Where-To-Go Wednesday - The New Jersey Aviation Hall of Fame and Museum

What: The Aviation Hall of Fame

Where: 400 Fred Wehran Drive
             Teterboro, NJ

Who: All ages

Me - The New Jersey Aviation Hall of Fame and Museum was interesting. I had no idea that New Jersey even had an Aviation Hall of Fame and Museum before we went there or that New Jersey was even important to aviation history. There was a hot air balloon basket which you could stand in it and take a picture. There was a whole exhibit on the explosion of the Hindenburg which actually happened in New Jersey. They even had an actual piece from the blimp. They had things you would find in an airplane like airplane menus and other stuff. They had a whole exhibit on the anniversary of Newark Airport. That exhibit was a few years old though. The airport will be 100 years old in 2028. There was Hall of Fame with plaques. Some of the people I had heard of like Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart. Others I hadn't ever heard of before. There were videos that explained how astronauts did different things in space. We watched one about how they wash their hands. It was so weird and cool. There were lots of pictures of people and planes and things. There were even a bunch of actual planes outside the museum and some of them were pretty big. You couldn't go in them, but they had steps so you could go right up to them.  I learned a lot at the museum especially because I have never actually been on a plane before or even to an airport. It sort of made me want to go on a plane, but I don't know when and if I ever will.

Mom - If you or your child loves planes you will really enjoy the New Jersey Aviation Hall of Fame and Museum. A coast guard helicopter, a jetliner, and an airport rescue and firefighting vehicle are only a few of the fascinating objects you will find on display at this museum. All of that and more is just what you will find outside the museum before you actually even set foot inside the building. Inside the museum is even more jam-packed with even more intriguing objects and memorabilia. Highlights include whole exhibits on Charles Lindberg, the Hindenberg, and women in aviation as well as numerous model planes, a variety of different engines and so much more. Interactive aspects of the museum include a hot air balloon basket you can step into, a small plane you can sit in, and three different flight simulators you can try highlighting three different aspects of flying. The museum is small but it is extremely overflowing with fascinating objects and information. If you are very interested in any type of aviation and/or aviation history, you can spend  a lot of  time there
