Books: The Little Book of Doctor's Rules and Night Owls and Summer Skies

Mom - Today I am talking about two books.

The first book I am talking about today is The Little Book of Doctors' Rules by Clifton K. Meador, MD. This book is the perfect gift for an aspiring doctor or a student in medical school. It is full of  a little snippets of great advise for being the best doctor you can be. It does not so much focus on the practical aspect of medicine but more on the human aspect of medicine. A doctor that takes the words in this book to heart and learns to live by them will not only be the best doctor he can be but the kind of doctor his patients deserve, one that focuses not just on the healing side of medicine but the caring and compassionate side too.

The second book I am talking about today is Night Owls and Summer Skies. This book is the story of Emma whose mother, refusing to believe that Emma is gay, dumps her off at camp for the summer hoping she'll find a boyfriend. Instead what starts out as one of the worst summer of Emma's life becomes one of the best when she begins to make friends and falls for one of her counselors. Although that description might be a a bit disturbing, it is really not as bad as it sounds. Emma is almost 18 and her counselor is only a few years older. Emma is quite a feisty heroine. She may not always do the right thing but she learns from her mistakes and always stays true to herself. Her story is quite fun to read.

And that's Mom's view.

Tune in tomorrow for What-To-Do Wednesday.
