BroadwayCon 2020 Wrap-up

We were given complimentary tickets to BroadwayCon for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Me (Aurella) - BroadwayCon was fun. It was a joyous experience. My favorite moment was when I rode in an elevator with Alex Brightman. It was awesome! Even though we didn't get to do everything I wanted,  we still did a lot of fun things. I really like the show panels even though I only got to a few of them this year, Six Mrs. Doubtfire, and Jagged Little Pill. I also really like First Look. It makes me really excited for the Broadway season. It also makes sad because I know I probably won't be able to see a bunch of the shows even though I would really like to. Now, I am really looking forward to Mrs. Doubtfire, Six, and Sing Street. I knew about Mrs. Doubtfire before because I saw the movie, and I knew a little bit about Six. I didn't know anything about Sing Street before BroadwayCon. I still don't know that much about it, but I know the music is good. We only went to a few panels at BroadwayCon. They were interesting. I would have liked to go to more though. The market wasn't as fun as in other years. They seemed to have less stuff than other years. Also, they didn't have many booths that were just fun like Playbill, Broadway Box and stuff. They had lot of great merchandise but I didn't have any money to buy any. BroadwayCon went by so fast. It seemed even faster than other years. I already can't wait for next years' BroadwayCon. I was already ready the minute this year's BroadwayCon ended.

The other me (Melia) - BroadwayCon was as always a fantastic weekend. My favorite part was the First Look. I especially loved Six. I can't wait for Six to come to Broadway! I also really enjoyed the performance from Sing Street. Another thing I always enjoy is the Spotlight Panels in which cast and creative team members from current and upcoming shows discuss their shows. I liked the Mrs. Doutbfire and Jagged Little Pill panels best. It's always fun to visit the marketplace too. In the marketplace, this year for the second time I participated in a singing competition held by Broadway Star Project. This was one of  the highlights of the weekend for me because performing is always one of my favorite things to do. This year I sang On My Own from Les Miserables. All in all, I had another great experience, and I can't wait for next year.

Mom - This year's BroadwayCon was jampacked and exciting as ever, but seemed to go by even faster than ever. I definitely didn't get too nearly as many panels as I would have liked but I really enjoyed hearing from Broadway Stage Managers and the cast and creative team of Come From Away. I also loved hearing from the cast and creative teams of Moulin Rouge, Mrs. Doubtfire, Six and Jagged Little Pill, but was sorry to miss out on the Beetlejuice Spotlight panel. I always enjoy the opportunity to hear songs from new and upcoming shows so First Look is always one of my favorite parts of BroadwayCon. This year I especially enjoyed the songs from Sing Street, Six and one of the songs from Mrs. Doubtfire. I can't wait to see all the recently opened and upcoming shows covered at BroadwayCon (although now I am stressed out thinking about how I am going to get to see all these shows especially the ones we are not invited to cover).  I also enjoyed the opportunity to hear songs from the Off Broadway shows Between the Lines, which I am looking forward to hopefully seeing when it opens this Spring, and Emojiland, which I recently saw. BroadwayCon Feud was as fun as ever although unfortunately I missed BroadwayCon game night. A visit to the market place was kind of disappointing It is full of  amazing merchandise but I never seem to have enough money to buy any, and we were not looking to sign up for any of the many classes or camps available. There were a couple fun booths, like a Moulin Rouge Booth and a Six booth, but not as many as in previous years. I miss things like Playbill, Broadway Box and Show Score which always had fun things to do in their booths. It was great to see Tim Dolan in his BroadwayUp Close Tours booth, however. His Broadway tours are terrific! We would highly recommend them, and we can't wait to take another one ourselves. Over all, although BroadwayCon was incredibly fun this year as always, I just don't feel like I got to do as much as I would have liked to. I already can't wait for next year's BroadwayCon!
