What: The Trial of Donna Kaine

Where: George Street Playhouse
              103 College Farm Rd.
              New Brunswick, NJ

Who: Teens and up

When: Through November 11, 2018

Mom - For the second year in a row the George Street Playhouse presents a powerful military related drama. This year the show is The Trial of Donna Kaine. The story revolves around a marine staff sergeant who is accused of a crime leading to the drowning deaths of several recruits. She is being defended albeit reluctantly on her part by lawyer, Emily Zola Ginsberg who has her own reasons for pursuing the case. This show plays like any good courtroom drama of TV or the movies complete with last minute revelations of heretofore undiscovered evidence. However, despite the cliches of the genre, the story is still completely engrossing. The acting is great. The show is definitely worth seeing.

What: One Woman Sex and the City A Parody of Love Friendship and Shoes

Where: The Theater Center
            1627 Broadway
            New York, NY

Who: Recommended for Ages 16 and up

When: Through December 29, 2018

Mom - If you are a big fan of Sex and the City, you will love this show. Even if you are not a big fan of the show but you have seen the show a few times or even once or twice, you will probably still enjoy this show. Kerry Ipema's impersonations of the characters are dead on and hilarious. However, there is much more to this show than that. It feels more like a gathering of girlfriends rather than just a show to sit and absorb as Ipema directly addresses the audience several times throughout the show and encourages them to share dating deal breakers and bad dates on index cards during the intermission which are then shared during the second act. This is definitely not a good show for children. As in the TV show, there is a lot of frank sex talk in this show. Basically, if you wouldn't let your children watch the TV show, you won't want them to see this show. It is not really a great show for the average man either who may feel left out or lost. However, it is a great show for bachelorette parties, girl's night outs, and anybody who just wants to relive all six seasons of Sex and the City in about 2 hours.
