Me -  Judy and the Macabees was good. It was a show about  a girl named Judy and she wanted to join the Macabees. There were two main actors. The girl who played Judy and a guy who played several different roles. There were also a bunch of kids in the show. They played the Macabees. Sometimes, some of them played other things like animals. The character of Judy was very admirable because she was determined. She was a good role model for young girls. There were songs in the show. The songs were nice. Some were songs that were already written and some were written for the show. The audience even got to sing along to two songs. The acting was good. The singing was good too. The kids in the show were cute, and they were very talented. The dancing was good too. My favorite thing about the show was the performances. The show is special because it tells the story of Hanukkah. People who like learning about holidays especially Hanukkah and shows with a lot of kids in them would enjoy it.
Mom - Every year around this time, Merkin Concert Hall presents a Hanukkah related show for children. These shows are a terrific way to introduce children to the history and traditions of Hannukah in a fun way. This year's show was Judy and the Macabees, the story of young girl who wants to join the Macabees in their fight against the Syrian Greeks. The show was full of delightful energetic songs. The audience was even invited to sing along on a couple of them. Mary Albert really shined in her role as the fiesty heroine and Steve Brennan offered capable support in the dual roles of her father and Judah. The Macabees were played by the Kaufman Kids. They were adorable and full of stage presence. The whole show was very engaging. This was our first experience attending one of Merkin's Hanukkah shows. However, if this show is typical of their usual Hanukkah shows, we would highly recommend them.
Merkin Concert Hall also presents a Passover related show in the Spring. This years show is Schlemiel Crooks and will be presented on Sunday March 25, 2017. For more information about this show or to order tickets visit http://www.kaufmanmusiccenter.org/mch/event/passover-playhouseshlemiel-crooks/. For more about next year's Hanukkah show see Merkin Concerts Hall's 2018/2019 schedule which will probably be out some time in the late summer and keep reading this blog as we will bring you information regarding it as soon as we receive it.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for this week's Sunday Scoop.
