Let's Talk About Commercials

And Now A Word From Our Sponsor

Me - Commercials, sometimes wow! I like some commercials. Others are boring and stupid. Some are just really annoying.  I like commercials with cute animals and cute kids. There used to be a commercial for some type of stroller with a little kid dressed like a giraffe. I don't remember what it was for, but I really liked it because I like kids and I like giraffes. I loved the E-surance commercial with the older woman who was literally posting pictures to her wall. See
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkgZWlfaEIg, Geiko, on the other hand, has some of the stupidest commercials ever. They don't even make sense. I do like some commercial jingles. Some of them are really catchy. I like cereal commercial jingles. Some commercial jingles are really annoying though. Commercial jingles are always getting stuck in my head. I find myself singing along even with the commercials I don't even like. Commercials are everywhere. Even in today's world you just can't completely avoid them.*

Mom - For the most part commercials are annoying. However, sometimes they are funny or cute. I like commercials with cute little animals and cute kids. The baby in the Jimmy Fallon Capital One Commercials was adorable. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWGK-)V_93Qk. The commercials Capital One has now are really stupid.  I like commercials with catchy jingles although it's annoying how they get stuck in your head. I mean who can forget the Oscar Meyer Weiner jingle or the Dr. Pepper's Wouldn't You Like to Be a Pepper Too?  See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmPRHJd3uHI and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQPN3UKQM-U. Of course, some commercial jingles are better than others. I hate commercial's that don't make any sense or that you can't even tell what the commercial is for. Perfume commercials are notorious for this. I also hate when they use current songs in commercials. I mean it is one thing when they use songs that were popular a long time ago, but when they use songs that are still popular on current radio, it makes the artists seem like total sell-outs. My favorite commercial ever was the old Back-To-School Staples commercial with the little kids glumly dragging along behind the cart while the father gleefully dances through the aisles to the tune of The Most Wonderful Day of the Year. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwcYbo7pjto. It was everything both the advertiser and the viewing audience could want a commercial to be. It was funny, it was memorable, and you even remembered what it was for - Staples. Too bad they are not all as good and amusing as that. Maybe then, they wouldn't be so annoying.

And that's our view. What are your favorite commercials?
