What: Songbook Summit: Richard Rodgers
Where: 59E59 Theatre

New York, NY
Me - Songbook Summit: Richard Rodgers was good. The show was all music by Richard Rodgers. I liked it because I liked the music. It was nice. My favorite song was My Favorite Things. I like that song because I love The Sound of Music. I also knew the song The Lady is a Tramp because I heard it on the TV show Glee. A lot of the other songs, they played I had never heard before, but I liked them all. The musicians were very talented. The music was very pretty. There was also a singer, but not for all the songs just some of them. She was also good. Her voice was pretty. My favorite thing about the show was I liked the songs that they played. Besides, playing music they talked about Richard Rodgers. They also showed things on a screen like clips from movies and other stuff. People who like Richard Rodgers music would have loved the show. If they have a Songbook Summit Series again next year, I would definitely go again.
Mom - Talented musicians and identical twin brothers, Peter and Will Anderson and their jazz quintet recently concluded their summer series at 59E59 Theatre. The series focused on composers from the American songbook. The final shows featured the work of Richard Rodgers composer of such beloved musicals as The Sound of Music, South Pacific and Oklahoma. The shows not only looked at Rodgers iconic works with Oscar Hammerstein, however, but on his whole career including his work with former partner, Lorenz Hart. It included film clips, and pictures as well as clips of interviews with those who knew him best as well as clips of interviews with Richard Rodgers himself. There was also plenty of beautiful music played by by the Anderson brothers and company. They were accompanied on some songs by the lovely voiced Molly Ryan. The shows marked the conclusion of a four part summer series which started with Cole Porter and also included George Gershwin, and Harold Arlen as well as Richard Rodgers. The Anderson's have had several jazz shows at 59E59 prior to the Songbook Summit series and appearing regularly in the theater's E:Bar.
