Me - The Lincoln Center Tour was a good tour. We went to David Geffen Hall. David Geffen Hall is a concert hall. They don't do shows there or dances or anything else just concerts. The sound is really good no matter where you are in the concert hall. Also, we went to the Metropolitan Opera House. We got to go through the stage door. We got to sit on this couch that is for people who are late to an opera. If you are late to the opera, you have to sit out there and watch it on a screen until the end of the act. If it's a one act opera, you have to sit there for the entire show. Inside the auditorum they have a place on the backs of the chairs where you can see a translation of the opera. The opera can be translated into one one of three languages including Spanish and English. There is a wall where they have pictures of every single person who ever sang at the Metropolitan Opera. All the pictures are in alphabetical order. I wondered if every time they had to put up a new picture they had to redo the whole thing. If so, that would be tiring. We didn't get to see the Ballet Theater because they were having a show there that day. I was disappointed that I didn't get to see that. It was a really fun and interesting tour though, and I would really recommend going.
Mom - Lincoln's Center is the largest entertainment center in the United States and one of the largest in the world. Here you will find a concert hall, an opera house, a ballet theater, a library for the performing arts, a theater housing a Broadway, Off Broadway and Off Off Broadway theater, and the Julliard School among other things. If you want to learn more about the history of Lincoln Center and some of these locations and visit some of them as well, take the Lincoln Center Tour, The concert hall at Lincoln Center is currently known as David Geffen Hall. It is the home of the New York Philharmonic. The opera house is the Metropolitan Opera House and houses the opera of the same name. The ballet theater is the David H. Koch Theater and houses the New York City Ballet. The New York City Ballet is known for their elaborate performances of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker which they put on every winter holiday season. On the Lincoln Center Tour, you will visit each of these three locations and learn a little bit more about them. However, if one of them has a performance on the day of your visit, you will not be able to visit that location. The tour is very interesting especially if you like history and/or the performing arts. It does involve walking but not as much as other tours we have been on, and you do get to sit down when you are visiting the auditoriums of the venues. It is not a good tour for young children who would probably be bored. For more information or to book a tour go to http://atrium.lincolncenter.org/index.php/guided-tours.
And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.
