We recently attended the Fathom Events presentation of Dirty Dancing in honor of its thirtieth anniversary.
Me - Dirty Dancing, wow! Dirty Dancing is my favorite movie ever! In case, you haven't seen it. Here's the basic plot. When Baby's family goes to the Catskills for summer vacation, she meets dance instructor, Johnny Castle, and it changes both of their lives. I think that Baby and Johnny are such a cute couple. I love them together. I love the story, and the dancing is amazing. I love Patrick Swayze and his character of Johnny so much. I like all the characters except Robbie and Neil. Robbie is a creep who causes trouble for Johnny's partner. Neil is the snobby grandson of the owner of the hotel where they are staying. I just want to throw stuff at the screen every time I see Neil. He is mean to Johnny too. Although the movie is not a musical, the soundtrack is really great too. Over all, this is a really amazing movie and I recommend watching it multiple times.
Mom - Dirty Dancing is one of my favorite movies of all time. It was the only movie I actually saw in the movie theater four (4) times. The love story of Baby and Johnny is so sweet and who can resist that final dance number. I love a movie with a great end. I especially love a movie where all the little things that don't necessarily make sense during the course of the movie make perfect sense in the end like in this movie when Baby is unable to do the lift. I love the way they make Baby look so terrible when she and Johnny dance the Mambo at the Sheldrake which makes it stand out even more how beautiful she looks at the end of the movie. I have never seen Jennifer Grey looking more beautiful than she looks at the end of this movie. The way they lit her she was literally glowing. And, who can resist Patrick Swayze and his character of Johnny Castle? Although his character starts out a little gruff, by the end he is incredibly sweet. I once met Kelly Bishop, who played the Mom in the movie, and she told me that in real life Patrick Swayze was just as nice as he seemed on screen. I am glad to know that. The world is a little sadder without him in it. Unfortunately, he made a lot of movies that weren't very memorable. I am glad he made at least a few movies that were memorable with Dirty Dancing at the top of the list.
