Conductor: Adam Turner. Featuring Mark S. Doss as Moundshroud; with Emma Grimsley, Shirin Eskandani, Spencer Viator, Brian Wallin, Michael Kelly, and Jarrett Porter with members of MasterVoices.  Tickets are $25 ($125 VIP tickets include prime seating and a reception with the artists) and are available online at http://www.kaufmanmusiccenter.org/mch/event/insightalt-the-halloween-tree or by calling the Merkin Concert Hall box office at (212) 501-3330.
In Ray Bradbury's The Halloween Tree, a group children set out to go trick-or-treating on Halloween, only to discover that their friend, Pipkin, has been whisked away on a journey that could determine whether he lives or dies. With the help of a mysterious character named Carapace Clavicle Moundshroud, they pursue their friend across time and space through Ancient Egyptian, Ancient Greek, and Roman cultures, Celtic Druidism, Notre Dame Cathedral in Medieval Paris, and The Day of the Dead in Mexico. Along the way, they learn the origins of the holiday that they celebrate, and the role that the fear of death, spooks, and the haunts has played in shaping civilization. The Halloween Tree itself, with its many branches laden with jack-o'-lanterns, serves as a metaphor for the historical confluence of these traditions.

THE McKITTRICK HOTEL’S
S U P E R C I N E M A
CONTINUES THIS MONTH WITH ITS ANNUAL
INFERNO HALLOWEEN PARTIES

3 NIGHTS OF DANCE PARTIES WILL CELEBRATE
CLASSIC MOVIE MONSTERS

The McKittrick Hotel (530 W 27th Street), home of the immersive theater spectacle Sleep No More, celebrates Halloween again with its annual Inferno party, this year reimagined as an ode to ‘Classic Movie Monsters’ as part of the venue’s monthly film-inspired dance party series, Supercinema.  Parties will be held on Friday, October 28th; Saturday,October 29th; and on Halloween Night, Monday, October 31st.  Each party begins at 10:15PM, just after that evening’s Sleep No More performance concludes when, in true McKittrick fashion, the venue will be transformed to recreate some of the Golden Age of Hollywood’s most memorable monster movies.  For info and tickets, visit http://www.supercinemanyc.com.

Supercinema, a one-of-a-kind nightlife experience told through a cinematic lens, invites guests to a music-and-live-performance-filled dance party inspired by the world of that month’s film or film series, as with recent installments that immersed partygoers in worlds of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet in February, James Bond 007 in March, Alice in Wonderland in April, The Great Gatsby in May, June’s Gay Pride-themed The Wizard of Oz, and most recently September’s Clue murder mystery dance party.

Classic Movie Monsters’ guests must come dressed in attire inspired by classic Hollywood movie monsters, including but not limited to: Dracula, Vampire, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Witch, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Mummy, Zombie, Wolfman, The Invisible Man, or Damsel in Distress.  In lieu of a costume, partygoers may dress all in black.

Each Supercinema features one-of-a-kind scenic installations, pop-up theatrical performances, costumes galore, guest DJs, live music and an all-night open bar

Tickets for Supercinema are available in the following packages (prices vary by date):

-               Supercinema starting at $115
-               Late Night Entry to Supercinema only starting at $85
-               Sleep No More followed by Supercinema starting at $225

Punchdrunk's Sleep No More is an award-winning theatrical experience that tells Shakespeare’s classic tragedy Macbeth through a darkly cinematic lens. Audiences move freely through the epic world of the story at their own pace, choosing where to go and what to see, ensuring that everyone’s journey is different and unique.
