Funtivity Friday: Fun Places to Trick or Treat

If you don't want to trick or treat around your neighborhood or if for some reason you cannot trick or treat around your neighborhood. There are many alternative locations for trick or treating. Here are some of them.

1) Amusement Parks - iPlay America in Freehold, NJ has a month long Halloween Celebration from September 30 through October 31 which includes family friendly events and entertainment every weekend including a trick or treat trail, pumpkin decorating, costume contests and other fun family events and activities. However, not all events and activities might be available on all days so check before you go if you are interested in a specific event or activity. For more about iPlay America's Halloween activities go to http://www.iplayamerica.com/Halloween. If you don't live in the vicinity of iPlay America check with an amusement park near you and see if they have any Halloween activities.

2) Zoos - The Bronx Zoo has their annual Boo at the Zoo every weekend all October long. Activities include costume parades, pumpkin carving, and a hay ride as well as trick or treating. Other Zoos have similar events. For more about Boo at the Zoo at the Bronx Zoo go to http://bronxzoo.com/boo-at-the-zoo or check with a zoo near you for similar events.

3) Malls - Our local mall has a yearly trick or treating event on Halloween. Kids go around to different stores in the mall and collect treats. Other malls may hold similar events. If you do choose to go trick or treating at the mall, go early. In our experience, many stores run out of candy quickly.

4) Municipal Buildings - Our town holds a trick or treating event at the local municipal building every year to make sure every kid has the opportunity to have a fun and safe Halloween. Kids can go around to each department in the building and collect treats. Check with your local municipal building to see if they have a similar event.

5) Trunk or Treat - Trunk or Treat is an event where a group of people get together and open up the backs of their cars and decorate them. Children go around from car to car collecting candy. Plan a Trunk or Treat event with your friends, family, neighbors, or some organization you belong to or see if ones of these groups is planning one already you can join.

How do you plan to celebrate Halloween: traditional neighborhood trick or treating, one of the above alternatives or something else altogether?

However, you plan to celebrate Halloween, have a safe and happy one!

Enjoy!

Tune in tomorrow for a Saturday Special.
