Where-To-Go Wednesday - Adventures from Ezra Jack Keats and Motown the Musical

We were given free tickets to Adventures from Ezra Jack Keats for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own based on our experience.

Mom's view: TADA! Youth Theatre's production of Adventures from Ezra Jack Keats is made up of a series of two Ezra Jack Keats stories put together. The first Skates is based on a picture book about cats and dogs. Because it is based on a picture book, Skates is a little different than TADA!'s usual shows. The story is told through dance, and there is very little if any dialogue and/or singing. The second, Maggie and the Pirate, is a more traditional show with songs and dialogue in addition to dance.  Both halves of the show are enjoyable and entertaining. Any fan of Ezra Jack Keats will especially enjoy seeing his books brought to life on stage. Even if you are not a fan of Ezra Jack Keats, you will enjoy seeing this fun show performed by a talented group of kids.  The show is especially great for young children or anyone with a short attention span as it runs slightly less than an hour. What: Motown the Musical

Where: Nederlander Theatre
             208 W. 41 St.
             New York, NY

Who: Recommended for 10 and up

When: Now through July 31 only

Mom's view: If you like Motown music, you will love Motown the Musical. Motown is more than the story of the famous record company, it is a like nostalgic walk through the history of music. The score is filled with so many great songs.  The only problem is only parts of most of the songs are sung in the show because it would be impossible to fit all of every song in the show even with a running time of two hours and forty five minutes. The show is like a party with the audience constantly encouraged to sing and clap along.  Definitely, see this show if you want to have a good time unless you don't like really loud noise because this show is definitely loud. If you do go, you may even get picked to go up on stage  and sing with "Diana Ross." The show is recommended for ages 10 and up although there is not really much objectionable about it besides a little bit of cursing and a couple shown in bed together. If you want to experience this fun show, hurry down to the Nederlander Theatre as soon as you can because the show will only be open through the end of this weekend.
