Me - Today I am recommending the Magic Puppy Series by Sue Bentley. I like that it is about puppies. Puppies are cute. The books are about the puppy, Storm who is really a wolf in disguise. The wolf, Storm uses his magic to become a puppy. Then, he goes to this girl, it is different girl in each book. He is invisible to everyone else. He tells her his story and they hang out and have fun. These books are exciting and fun to read. Kids who like animals would love these books.
Mom- Today I am recommending American Girls by Alison Umminger. American Girls is about 15 year old Anna who runs away from home and spends the summer with her sister in California where her sister's ex-boyfriend puts her to work researching the Manson girls for a movie he is making. The book is full of quirky interesting characters who are all flawed in some way. The character of Anna starts out like a spoiled brat running away because she is angry at her mother and stepmother, but the things she discovers about her self and the world over the course of the novel, cause her to gain a new perspective and maturity. It is an entertaining journey, and you will want to go along for the ride. The book should be required reading for any teenage girl who ever thought she wanted to be living a different live than the one she is. It truly shows that the grass is not always greener some place else and sometimes, your life may not be as bad off as you think.
