Me - The Jim Henson Exhibition at the Museum of the Moving Image was interesting. The exhibit covered all kinds of things that Jim Henson did including Sesame Street, the Muppets and more. I enjoyed it a lot. It was really fun. They had had some fan letters that people wrote to Jim Henson. They had the princess from The King of Eight. They had drawings of Sesame Street Muppets. Also, they had a lot of actual Sesame Street Muppets. They even had a toy version of one of the Muppets. They had Sesame Street toys too. They also had creatures from other shows Jim Henson worked on. One looked like a mixture of a dinosaur, a monster, and a dragon. They had some scripts from the Muppet show. They had a place where you could design your own Muppet. They had hair, eyes, noses and and accessories. You couldn't keep the Muppet you designed, however. There was only Muppet to design and you could take a turn to design it, and then someone else could take a turn. There was also a place where you could take a turn working a Muppet. We didn't do that though. My favorite part of the exhibit was the Sesame Street Muppets. I used to love that show so they brought back memories for me. The exhibit covered Jim Henson's whole career and not just the Muppets. This Jim Henson exhibit is permanent. It will not only be at the museum for a limited time. People who are fans of any of Jim Henson's work would really enjoy this exhibit.
Mom - If you are a fan of any aspect of Jim Henson's work, you will love the new Jim Henson exhibition at the Museum of the Moving Image. This comprehensive exhibit covers everything from his entire career. It covers Sam and friends which included a puppet which eventually evolved into Kermit the Frog. It covers Sesame Street with Muppets and toys and books and drawings and more. It covers The Muppet Show with Muppets and scripts and movie posters and more. It covers his career beyond the Muppets with puppets from other projects some of them quite large and other things like David Bowie's costume from Legend. There also film clips to watch throughout the exhibit including the famous King of Eight counting poem from Sesame Street which was voiced by Jim Henson himself. While the whole exhibit is great, there is just something about the Sesame Street aspect of it that touches the heart. Kids will love it because it is still a part of their world. For the rest of us, it gives us a sweet feeling of deja vu. After all, Sesame Street has now been around for almost fifty years and most of us grew up with it. Visiting the exhibit is like taking a step back into your childhood. You won't want to miss it.
If you go keep in mind that the exhibit is new and very popular. Timed tickets are required to visit the exhibit, and it is best to get them in advance if possible.
