The Pop Ups
A collaboration between Brooklyn musicians Jason Rabinowitz and Jacob Stein, The Pop Ups have been setting the standard for children’s music since 2010. They received two Grammy nominations for Best Children’s Album, for 2012’s Radio Jungle and 2015’s Appetite for Construction, alongside a National Parenting Publications Award, Parents’ Choice Award, and praise from NPR’s All Things Considered. They are currently in development with Amazon Studios on an original puppet musical pre-school series. The atmosphere at Atrium events is celebratory, relaxed, and suitable for most audiences. Experimental Bitch Presents (EBP) is pleased to announce their 2019 mainstage production, the post-apocalyptic play Jack of Cups by Gabriel Rodriguez. Many years from now, long after The Flood That Drowned the World, a stranger, queerer, more loving world has sprouted from the rubble and ruins. Once a year, the many communities of this new world become one, gathering on a barren island for the Remembrance Festival. Amidst the games and food and drink, the sharing of knowledge and the telling of Big Stories, they are visited by a mysterious and legendary wanderer who has arrived to tell the biggest Big Story of all.

The New York Premiere Off-Broadway run of Siegmund Fuchs’ IN THE CLOSET, a stirring dramedy about ageism in the gay community that will begin a limited Off-Broadway engagement Wednesday, May 29, 2019 continuing through June 16, 2019 at Theatre Row’s Studio Theatre, (410 West 42nd Street). Eli Carpenter will direct. Mr. Fuchs lives in Washington, D.C., is an attorney for the United States Department of Justice, and his academic work focuses on abuse victims.
In The Closet centers around four men exploring the various reasons one might "closet" oneself in this cross-generational look at being in the closet, leaving the audience to wonder: Can any one of them ever walk out?
Performances, which begin on May 29th will be on Wednesdays through Saturday evenings at 8 pm, and Sunday matinees at 3 pm through June 16th. Accessibility Performances and Autism-Friendly Performance for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast
Paper Mill Playhouse, a leader in accessibility, will offer audio-described performances for Disney’s _Beauty and the Beast_ on Saturday, June 22, and Sunday, June 23 at 1:30pm. Prior to these performances at noon, the theater will offer free sensory seminars. Sensory seminars offer an opportunity for patrons with vision loss to hear a live, in-depth description of the production elements of the show and hands-on interaction with key sets, props, and costumes. There will be a sign-interpreted and open-captioned performance on Sunday, June 23 at 7:00pm. Out of the Box Theatrics announces an extension of the Off-Broadway Premiere of THE PINK UNICORN by Elise Forier Edie. Directed by Amy Jones, this site-specific solo drama stars Tony Award-winner Alice Ripley (Next To Normal, Side Show, Sunset Boulevard). Trisha Lee is a Christian widow living in a conservative Texas town. Her life is suddenly upended when her 14-year-old daughter Jolene announces she is genderqueer and starting a chapter of the Gay and Straight Alliance at the local high school. In THE PINK UNICORN, Trisha recounts her story about facing a crisis she never saw coming, at a time when transgender people and gender issues weren't even on her radar.
