I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Hair

Me- I used to hate my hair. I was jealous of my sister's hair that was long and straight.  Mine was thick, ugly, and short. I tried cutting it myself to make it thinner, but it didn't work. I had a big clump missing in the back of my head. I had to get it cut really short to even it out. I looked like a boy.  Now, I love it. It is long, silky, and a beautiful shade of brown.  I am always getting complements on it. My friends are always saying "I wish I had your hair. Your hair is so much better than mine. I love your hair." Even teachers complement my hair. However, I still have two problems with my hair. When I have it tied in the back with a rubber band and people can't see all my hair, they still sometimes think I'm a boy. My friends don't seem to have this problem. Everybody always knows they are girls even when they tie back their hair. I am not a tomboy, and I don't dress like a boy so that doesn't explain it. The second thing I don't like about my hair is I can't decide if I want to grow my bangs back or not. I have changed my mind at least 7 times. I grow them really long then I cut them, I grow them really long, I cut  them. Every time I cut them it takes a long time to grow them back again. The minute they get long again I cut them again. It is like the game babies play where they keep on throwing something on the floor and scream until you pick it up, and as soon as you pick it up they throw it down again and scream again. So as you can tell their are a lot of ups and downs about my hair.-

Mom- I would have to say that overall, my hair has mostly been one of the major annoyances of my life. I hardly ever like the way it looks, and can't seem to fix it. I guess that is true of a lot of us females. I remember my younger sister crying when she got haircuts when we were kids because she was never happy with them. I was not that bad. I always figured that no matter how bad it was, it was going to grow back, and it was not like being somebody who was actually bald or losing their hair. Still, that didn't mean I was always happy with my hair. When I was younger, my hair was straighter, as I got older it got much wavier. I hated that. Then again, I guess that is one of the things about hair if you're hair is straight you want curly or wavy hair, if you're hair  is curly or wavy,
you want straight hair. At least, that is true for most of us, at least when we are young. I have seen it with my daughter who used to be jealous of her younger sister's long thin straight hair but has recently seemed to grow to appreciate her own shorter thicker hair which is more like mine. I have always loved my younger daughter's hair as well, but I have noticed that lately her hair seems to be getting much wavier too although it still not as thick as mine and still a lot easier to style than mine. However lately, I am at peace about my hair. I have decided to stop trying to blow dry it and straighten it all the time and I am trying to embrace the thick and wavy hair I was given. So far it is going okay, but I don't know how long this easy going attitude about my hair will last nor does my peacefulness about my hair extend to its color. Those gray hairs still gotta go!

Glee Concert!

Me-Glee concert, wow! My Mom  and   I  recently went to the Glee Live tour for our second year  in  a  row. That  day was the best ever in my life!! Nothing will  ever, even come close! As soon as we have it on DVD, I will watch it every single day, with the TV blasting while I jump up and down, scream and sing the words to the songs (except  if  my  dad  is  napping]. I just loved everything about it. I love the singing, I loved the dancing, I loved seeing all the performers live, I loved everything. The only thing I didn't love was the opening act. On any other occasion I wouldn't have minded them. They were pretty good.  However, at the Glee concert all I wanted to see was the Glee cast singing and dancing not other people dancing. The rest of my thoughts about the concert are hard for me to put into words.

Mom - Last Friday, Melia and I went to the Glee Live concert together  for the second year in a row. Now, I love my daughter, and we have a lot good times together with or without other family member,. however, I can honestly say those Glee concerts are one of the best times we ever have together. It is so much fun just being there together and listening to that music and singing along. We all know the best part of Glee is the music anyway. This year they were filming the Glee Concert movie at the concert we attended in East Rutherford, New Jersey. At first, I thought that the cameras would be in the way and interfere with our enjoyment of the show. They actual were kind of in the way when we were sitting down. However, since we ended up on our feet for almost the whole concert clapping, dancing and singing along, it ended up not really being a problem. It was also exciting that they were filming the concert movie that night because Gwyneth Paltrow made one of her surprise appearances on the tour and sang "Forget You." which was a highlight of the show. I didn't like that as in any concert there is only so much time and therefore, only so many songs get sung so the more songs there are, the more songs you would like to hear live that they don't get to during the concert. At last year's concert, I loved every song they sang although even then there were songs I would have liked to hear live that they didn't get to, but not as many. However, I left the show last year feeling very satisfied. This year there were a few songs that I didn't actually like as much, and I felt like it was like they wanted to give everyone a chance to sing a solo. Everyone did except Quinn, Lauren, Mike, and Sam (the actors perform as their characters in the concert even as far as Artie, being in his wheel chair). Also, the Warblers sang three songs. I like the Warblers, and I like the songs they sang, but I felt like their singing three songs took song time away from New Directions, and I would have liked to hear New Directions sing more songs. Last year, Vocal Adrenaline was there, but that they only sang one song so that didn't take away as much time from New Directions.  I thought it would have been cool if the Warblers would have been the opening act instead of that dance group, who a lot of people seemed to like, but my daughter and I thought was boring. That way the Warblers could have sang a lot of songs and not taken away any time from New Directions. I liked the concert, but at the end I felt like there were so much more that I would have liked to have seen that they didn't do and maybe, it is just me or the fact that the Warblers took up some of New Directions time, but it seemed shorter overall then last year. Maybe, it is because last year, I loved every song, and this year I didn't. In any case, if there is another concert next year, Melia and I are definitely hoping to be there. In the meantime, we are watching The Glee Project (maybe we'll write more on that at another time), anxiously awaiting the release of the Glee Concert movie (it is so excited to us that when watch the movie and relive the concert at least some of it will actual be reliving the actual concert we were at) and anxiously awaiting the release of the Glee season 2 DVD. All of which, will hopefully take us through until the start of season three in the fall.

Camp

Me -I   have been  going  to  camp  since  I   was  four. Yet, I only liked it when I was younger. Once you get older, all you do is sports most of the day except for going swimming and a few other activities.  For three years, I went to Ivy League Day Camp. The next summer I went to All Star Day Camp. I didn't like it at all, all we did was either we went on trips or we sat around all day and made lanyards and about once a week went swimming. The camp also lied. On my first day, they gave out little animal shaped rubber bands and said they gave them out every day. They only gave them out twice the whole time I was there. However, one thing I liked about that camp was I got to jump off a really high diving board for the first time. You had to pass a test to go on the diving boards or swim in the deep end. I passed the test. Now, I have a lot of confidence when I am jumping off high things. The next year, I went back to Ivy League, but it was then that I realized once you get older all you do is sports. I didn't like that. This summer, I am going to a sleep away camp for my very first time. My Mom, Dad, Sister, Grandma, Grandpa, and I went on a tour of the camp, and it is awesome! I am so excited to go, but I'm a little scared. It is my first time being away from home for THREE  whole weeks! I am already packed up with two duffel bags. My Dad and brother will be dropping me off at camp. They are not allowed to take me to my cabin. I am not really sure if I'm going to make any friends, but the lady who took us on the tour introduced me to a girl who will be in my bunk and a girl who is a year older and I may see around camp. However, I don't even remember their names.
Wish Me A Lot  Of  Luck

Mom - I went to camp a few times when I was young  I never really liked it. I found that camp was mostly about sports, and I never really liked sports. Besides, I was this quiet little thing, and I didn't really like to participate in any of the camp activities much. When I was a little older, I went to sleep away camp. I didn't like that much either even though it was a more specialized camp, and I didn't have to do sports at all. I just didn't like being away that much and all I could think about was how to get my parents to let me come home. I ended up there for 6 weeks though and even managed to let my parents talk me into staying for the second 3 weeks after the first 3 were up. When I was a little older, I went to a traveling camp. It was a traveling camp where we went to a different place every day and then came home at night not one where we traveled around the country or anything. I liked that pretty much. It was fun to go to different places all the time and to not have to do sports or anything. Of course, some of the places we traveled were better than others. I loved the Bronx Zoo and Washington, D.C. (we went there on an overnight trip) and Great Adventure amusement park among other places. Some places, I didn't like as much. For instance, I didn't like that a few times a week we went to a state park and went swimming. I didn't really like swimming in a lake and there was not much else to do there. When I was in high school, I worked at day camp for two summers. I worked at a preschool camp. I didn't make much money, but the kids were adorable and it was a lot of fun. I liked working at camp much better than I ever liked going to camp. My mother is always telling me now that I should get a job in a camp for the summer so my kids can go for free. However, now that I have kids of my own the thrill of being with other people's kids all day every day all summer long is kind of gone. So I don't think I'll do that.
