I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

The Royal Wedding

Me - Me and my mom watched a lot of news coverage about the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Kate is a beautiful woman. Prince William is very handsome. They make a great couple. I can tell by the way they kept looking at each other, that they are really in love, much more than his parents were. On one of the news shows, they showed Charles and Diana's wedding, and they weren't looking at each other at all. Not only did Prince William and Kate kiss one time, they kissed twice. The newscasters showed it over and over again. Kate kept looking at Prince William lovingly. He kept looking at her the same way. The royal wedding was the main story in the newspaper and probably will be in next week's People Magazine. There were so many people at the wedding. It looked as if there were billions of people there and that's only the people outside not even the people that actually attended the wedding. When me and my Mom were watching, I asked if that many people would be watching my wedding on a screen outside the building and on TV. Even though my mom sweetly answered "no Melia",  I thought in her mind she was saying "in your dreams". It's too bad that I won't have a wedding like that, unless I move to England and marry a prince than my wedding would be as big a deal as theirs. I'd be all over the TV, newspaper and magazines. Now that would be cool! In any case, I hope that Prince William and Kate Middleton will love each other forever and have a long and happy marriage. And, I hope that they have a little adorable baby girl that behaves well.

Mom - Although a lot of people may think that there was much too much hype about and media attention to the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, I for one enjoyed it. I mean I didn't get up at 4:00 in the morning to watch it live or anything. However, Melia and I enjoyed hearing and seeing everything about it on all the news shows on Friday night. It was so nice to see the news dominated by something good for a change instead of another tragedy. Kate was certainly a beautiful bride. I personally think she is prettier than Princess Diana was, and Prince William is a lot better looking than his father is. They make a beauttiful couple. More importantly, I have rarely if ever seen a couple so in love. They way they kept looking at each other so lovingly was to me the best part of the whole wedding. I mean if you look at Prince Charles and Diana's wedding, it makes you wonder if they were ever in love. They never looked at each other like that. It was like the divorce was foretold even from the beginning. I don't think they were ever  really friends either. It was like they were expected to marry and they did so that was that. Kate and William started off as friends and got married because they wanted to because they were in love and not because they had to. I think the marriage is going to last and I really hope it does not just for them but for all of us. I mean even if  their lives are not exactly a faiy tale, after all, nobody's is, it is certainly more of a fairytale than my life or the life of anyone  I know. We all need a little bit of fairy tale in our lives. I appreciate William and Katherine for providing that to us. I hope they continue to provide it for many years to come.

Hobbies

Me-I have a lot of hobbies. For instance, I like singing, dancing, reading, writing and collecting things. I like singing, but I don't like doing it front of people. Me and my sister, Aurella, like to dance to little skits that I make up. I like to write stories and poems. I have written 4 stories and 37 poems. For me, poems are more fun and easier to write. As for reading, I read a 235 page book in 3 days. I love reading. I went into kindergarten already chapter books when some of the other kids could barely read level books. Right now, I am reading "Little House on The Prarie" which is 335 pages, and I plain on reading that in 3 days too. I have a lot of collections. I collect erasers which I keep in a little bag at school. I collect stickers in a little journal in  my closet. I collect shells that find at the beach, only the interesting ones. I keep them in a big Ziplock bag in my room. I am going to start a collection of key chains.

Mom - I have a lot of hobbies too. Too many. It is hard to find enough time to do them all and still have enough time to do what I need to. Like my daughter, I like singing, but not in public. I don't consider myself a great singer though and wouldn't really consider that a hobby of mine. I don't like to dance at all. I don't know where my daughter got her dancing talent from, certainly not from my husband or I. I like reading. I try to read a  least a little bit each day and finish at least a book a week. I like writing mostly fiction. I have a whole other blog, Stories for Dora,  where Melia and I write short stories for my younger daughter. My older daughter has really inspired me in my writing. I always liked to write but I really hadn't done much writing in years because with a husband and kids and everything there were just too many other demands on my time. However, seeing how much my daughter enjoys writing and hearing her talk about her writing and read stuff she'd written to me reminded me how much I liked it to and how much I missed it and inspired me to go back to it. I also like I also doing the puzzles from the newspaper. I hardly ever have time to do them though, but I can't get myself to throw them out. I usually just pile them up and then when I get to it, I do a whole pile of them at a time. I also have a number of collections including a collection of dolls from different countries.

Favorite Foods

Me- All of my favorite foods are junk food. For instance, chocolate cake, vanilla cake, ice cream cake except for the icing, cookie cake, chocolate cupcakes, vanilla cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, black and white cookies, chocolate ice cream, vanilla ice cream, cookies and cream ice cream, cookie dough ice cream and Brownies. Chocolate cake can taste good with rich chocolate icing, regular chocolate icing, vanilla icing or Funfetti icing. Vanilla cake can taste good with vanilla icing, or Funfetti icing. Ice cream cake tastes good with chocolate crunchies. Cookies cake tastes good with the icing it comes with. Chocolate cupcakes tastes good with chocolate icing but not sprinkles. Vanilla cupcakes taste good with chocolate icing or vanilla icing but not sprinkles. Chocolate chip cookies taste good with really melted chocolate chips. Black and White cookies taste good no matter what, and I like the big ones but not as much as the little ones. Chocolate ice cream tastes good with hot fudge and caramel or butterscotch and little brownie bits. To me, vanilla ice cream, tastes better in a cone than in a cup. If you combine chocolate and vanilla, which is also called a swirl, you have yourself an ice cream world, in my opinion. Cookies and cream tastes good with either regular cookies or Oreos. Once when I went to Baskin Robbins with my grandparents the cookies and cream used Oreos and the man called it "Oreos and cream". When I'm eating cookie dough ice cream, I like to save the cookie dough bits for last. Brownies remind me of my Girl Scout troop. I like regular chocolate brownies, chocolate chip chocolate brownies, and just about any other kind you can think of. It's too bad that all my favorite foods are fattening. Even though you may think that  if I eat all this stuff, I must be 500 pounds, I know how to manage my diet. I am very active, and I don't have more than one dessert in a day except for very rarely. Only one of my favorite foods is not as fattening and that is Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches. In my life, I've had the chocolate one, the vanilla one, the cookies and cream one. There are also other ones I haven't had as well as lots of other different types of Skinny Cow. It's nice that at least one of my favorite foods isn't as fattening.

Mom - I don't really have a specific favorite food. It just depends what I am in the mood for at a particular time. In general, I am and always have been a very picky eater except when it comes to junk food. I mean there are actually a lot of junk foods I don't like. However, unfortunately for me, there are a way too many that I do like. There are way too many fattening foods that I am particular fond of and need to avoid as much as possible. I love Oreo cookies. I love Lindt white chocolate. I love Nestle Toll House cookies sandwiches. I love Mrs. Fields cookies sandwiches, the ones with two large cookies and icing in the middle. I love Cinnabon cinnamon rolls. I love chocolate chip cookies. I love ice cream cake and cookie cake. I love Twix and Milky Ways. Lots of times I hear people talk about oh they have to avoid this food or that food or the other food and I envy them. I mean I would love to have only one fattening food that I absolutely crave and can't stay away from instead of a whole slew of them.

Jewelry

Me - Earrings are jewelry which is one reason why I like them. Most girls go crazy over jewelry. I do too, but I don't brag about it. Jewelry makes you look pretty especially earrings. You just poke them into your ears, and  there you have it. The only bad thing about them, IMO, is that the backings are always getting lost because of how small they are. That is an inconvenience. My Mom and I used to go crazy trying to find an earring back from one of our other earrings. Then, I came up with the idea to keep all the earring backs in a little ceramic tub. Jewelry is one of my favorite things. But, if I had to choose, a favorite jewelry, I'd probably say earrings. I got my ears pierced when I was five as a present for graduating from pre-k. It was a gift from my parents. I was super excited when I found out I was getting my ears pierced. A lot of girls I know show off about having their ears pierced. Since, I was young when I got mine pierced, I never really told anyone about it until I was older. Now that I am older, a lot of girls have pierced ears so it is not very exciting that I have pierced ears. Even though, I said I love jewelry, I can live without it which I have been doing for a while now. I wish I could be wearing it all the time, but I can't because aside from earrings which my Mom and I share, I only have two broken bracelets and a necklace because the rest my sister stole. Like I said, I can live without it, but I think I'll steal it back from my sister and start wearing it all the time again. My friends wear three necklaces, a bracelet on each hand and rings on each and every finger at the same time. Even though I love jewelry I would never go that crazy. The most jewelry I have ever worn at the same time is three bracelets on one hand, a necklace, and a ring on my left hand ring finger plus a pair of earrings. People always say to me "Melia, I bet you don't have as much jewelry as I do."  I think to myself 'they're crazy for jewelry'. I am too but I try not to toot my own horn. When people do that to me, I don't get mad, but I tell them if they think they have so much jewelry they should let me see it so I can see if they are serious or they are just trying to make me jealous. Sometimes, it is hard to tell the difference between the truth or  a lie. The only time I would brag about my jewelry to my friends or family is if I got a new piece of jewelry. Nobody tells me when they get new pieces of jewelry, but they go on and on and on about what they already have. When my friends are talking to me about jewelry, sometimes I feel like they just talk without even realizing what they are saying. For example, this is one time, I was talking to my friend and she was telling me how she has a really pretty blue flowered bracelet with a little jewel on it. Then, out of nowhere, she said "Do you like pizza? Because I do." Anyway, I'll get back to you about how it goes stealing back my jewelry from my sister, Aurella whom I've mentioned before in the blog about best friends.

Mom- Like any woman, I like jewelry. However, unlike any woman, for the most part, I can live with it or without it. I have a few necklaces, bracelets, pins, and rings which I hardly ever wear. Of course, I have a wedding ring and  an engagement ring which I wear all the time.  The only other kind of jewelry that I absolutely love and wear almost every day is earrings. In fact, the only time, I do not wear earrings is when I am going swimming or if I forget to put them on in the morning. I just love earrings, all kinds of earrings big earrings, small earrings, hoops, studs, knots, multicolored earrings, one colored earrings, gold earrings, silver earrings, just about any kind of earring you can name I like. I literally have 100's of them of just about every size shape and color you can name. The funny thing is that when I was young, I was never one of those girls who was in a rush to get my ears pierced. One day, we were just out at the mall and my Mom told me I was getting my ears pierced, and I thought well okay,. Even then I wasn't overly excited. I was about 13 then, and I only wore earrings for about six months or so then stopped. When I graduated from high school  a friend told me I should put some earrings on, she actually managed to get earrings in my ears even after all that time which surprisingly didn't hurt. Ever since than, I've been crazy about earrings and wear them all the time. The only thing I don't like about earrings is that they are always getting lost and so are the backs. If the backs get lost that is not such a big deal, I just take a back from another pair.  .However,  I don't like losing earrings because when you lose an earring you are still stuck with the other half of the pair. When it becomes obvious that the missing earring is not going to turn up, I know that is the point when I should probably throw the remaining one out. However, I am too attached to my earrings so I cannot bear the thought of never wearing a pair again so lately I have started occasionally wearing mismatched earrings each of which I have lost the pair to. My girls get a kick out of that. Every day, they like to look and see if I am wearing matching earrings or not.

And that's our view. Tune again for another topic.
